All things are possible.
As webmaster at The Daily Star from 2006 to 2008, I converted their website from a basic HTML site to a content-managed solution. This required strong project management planning, a detailed time frame and strong coding knowledge for a smooth transition. In addition to The Daily Star website, I converted the Cooperstown Crier website to a new CSS platform and increased the Crier’s ability to post breaking news and other current information for its readers. I was responsible for implementing new web features including video, online subscription requests, interactive photo galleries, reader comments, surveys and breaking news feeds. As webmaster I was required to have a strong understanding of cross-browser compatibility and the ability to work with local businesses on website re-designs and advertising designs. While working for both newspapers I built good public relations with the community while creating new marketing campaigns for our advertisers. I was able to create successful web and video designs tailored to The Daily Star and Cooperstown Crier because I took the time to familiarize myself with the organizations and cater to their specific journalistic needs and their objectives of serving a large and diverse group of readers.
I have become extremely knowledgeable about using Dreamweaver and Photoshop through my freelance design work for companies such as Image Light Advertising, LLC and other local businesses. I design websites using Web2.0, CSS, Flash, Java, PHP, and HTML and have assisted clients’ transitions to the web market. As a Desktop Support Technician at SUNY Oneonta, I have assisted many Oneonta employees with a variety of web design questions after the installation of Dreamweaver, and have helped familiarize users with the folder structures of their departments’ sites. While working for SUNY Oneonta I have also gained experience supporting and utilizing the features of the MyOneonta portal and have become familiar with its functionality. I am also knowledgeable of New York State’s required accessibility and usability standards for educational websites.
